Since we are dog friendly you also have your own private fenced in secure dog yard attached to the guest house. We are close to all Providence colleges and wonderful Downtown Providence. Incredibly SAFE private off street parking behind an electronic gate. Close to local restaurants, bakery, food stores and 24 hour Walgreens (all walking distance). 2 separate sleeping areas, the main room (shares the common room) has a queen size bed with a fold out couch/bed. Other bedroom has double bed with sitting area, fully applianced kitchen w/fridge/freezer, microwave, stove/oven, washer/dryer, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster oven, blender, all kitchen utensils, all cookware supplied. All rooms are heated and have a/c (window units for a/c). Kitchen and common room are an open floor plan and there is plenty of room in bedrooms for clothes storage. You have a 40" TV in the main room with cable. You also have your own high speed FIOS Wifi router with 50/50 internet which is very fast, so you will not be sharing internet with us, it is all yours which dramatically increases the upload and download speed. The blow up mattress and the porta-crib are not permanent furniture and can be brought in and out of the cottage as needed. There is a outside storage unit that holds your beach equipment, 4 towels, 2 adult and 2 toddler Boogie Boards, 2 beach chairs and a beach cart to get it from your car to the beach. You will have 1 private off street parking spot in our personal driveway that is secured by a motorized electronic gate that you get a remote control as long as keys to the cottage when you check in. You have 3 doors that go into your private cottage. You have a private dog run as well as private yard that has a sitting area as well as a place for children to safely play as well as outside seating and dining. If you bring a dog it must be crated when you are not in the cottage and we do not allow dogs on the furniture or bed. We can supply a crate for you if needed. Though you are on our personal property, you are staying in a private guest house in your own area. The wonderful thing about our property is that other then check in you may never see us at all and we will respect your privacy. You can always call or text us for whatever you need. It is possible if you do not want to have interaction with us you don't have to. Our property and your guest house is separated by security gates so you can have the utmost privacy and security as well as us. We are big on respecting your privacy, and we are a phone call or a text away. Jeff travels often for business and Linda homeschools our children as well as runs her business from the home. Depending on the day of the week and time of year, you may not see us at all, but we are always avl for any issues that arise. In the warm months we are home and you will often see/hear the kids playing outside during the day. You can go the whole time without interacting us if you choose, but we are extremely responsive to phone calls and texts. It is a multi cultural neighborhood, with bakeries, convenience stores, 24 hour Walgreens, multiple restaurants (Los Andes is our favorite), also Spanish, Thai, Italian and delis to eat at. It is a working class neighborhood, with mostly single and double family houses (though the house across the street is a 6 unit building) that are owner occupied. We have a elementary, high school and Rhode Island College all within walking distance to us. It is a very safe place to go for a walk/run, walk your dog and take a bike ride. We have owned the the house since 2003, and have and continue to raise our children here. You are close to Routes 95-195 and route 10. We live on 2 bus lines #56 and the #92, with easy access to Downtown Providence and Provdence Place Mall as well as Federal Hill and the Historic East Side of Providence. Uber and taxis are a convenient way to get around town. We are 15 minutes from our local airport TF Green. The #56 bus can be taken from the train station to our home. Both Newport and Boston are about 1 hour away. We live in a busy city and there can be moments of loud noise, ie: fire station is 2 blocks away, the guest cottage is up against the street so there can be street noise. We have dogs on the property that will bark when you arrive on the property and there may be moments of barking during your stay, up to a few minutes at a time once and a while between the hours of 7am-10pm. We live on the property as well, and we love our privacy and quiet enjoyment so we do our best to create that for you. Just want to make sure that you understand that this is a city environment with basic city noises, but with all owner occupied houses in the area, people pay a lot of attention to their homes and the living environment in the neighborhood. Any question feel free to ask before you book. Our family starts our day at 6:45am each day, meaning heading to gym, feeding the dog, leaving for work etc..we do have a white noise machine as well as ear plugs avl for you if you are a light sleeper.

With the exception of certain Premium Dates we only accept reservations of less than 7 days when the arrival date is within 30 days, unless we have other guests immediately preceding or following the requested stay. We do this so we don't eliminate guests looking for stays of 7 days or longer. Built in 1677 the Major Thomas Fenner House is the oldest home in the Providence Plantations and one of the few original “stone-enders” in existence. The 2400 sqft 4 BD 2 BA home sits on 3 acres of land siding to Stone Pond. When you head up Stony Acre Dr. turn down the long driveway just before the stop sign. You will be leaving a 1970s residential neighborhood to discover a tranquil setting among ancient trees bringing you back to a time of early colonial Rhode Island. The home was built a few months after King Phillips War in which the settlers homes were burned to the ground. Originally built as a 2 ½ story 18.5” x 18.5” post and beam frame home on a field stone foundation with a massive stone fireplace. The original fire room, sleeping chamber, attic and basement are very much as they were built. In the 1700s additions were added to the south and west and in the 1920s a dormer was put on giving it a Salt Box style and an indoor bathroom. The home served as a residence, court, meeting house and tavern. Google Major Thomas Fenner Bear to see his original recipe for beer. The Home was entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 and is the jewel of early Rhode Island homes. The current owner brought the home back into the Fenner Family in 2006 after a 90 year hiatus with the mission of continuing its preservation for another 330 years. In 2015 the owner decided to make the property available as a vacation rental to help it support itself and to allow the public and architectural and historical scholars greater access to the home. The home is furnished with antiques, period, reproduction furniture and colonial in style. The furnishings provide the ambiance of a historic home while still providing it's guests a comfortable stay with the modern amenities (indoor plumbing, four flat screen TVs wifi and alarm system), that don't interfere with the home's historic nature. Keep in mind this home may have been five star when built, but rustic is a better description today. Among the architectural wonders of the house is the massive field stone chimney on the north side of the house which is why these homes are known as “stone-enders”. The attic window to the left of the chimney is the size of the original windows which had triangular panes of glass imported from England. The post and beam construction is of old growth virgin timbers. Check out the size of summer (wood beam over fireplace) by opening the door to the utility room and looking up to your left. This is also where the switch to the spot light that illuminates the fireplace is located. The fireplace is 10 feet wide and over 5 ½ feet tall. To open and close the flue push up and pull down the metal bar visible on the right hand side of the fireplace. The granite beneath, in front of and siding fireplace is the original kitchen. A heavy metal bar can be seen by looking up the chimney. This was used to hang pots to cook as well as three legged pots sitting in the coals such as the one in the back left hand side of the fireplace. You can see the shallow beehive oven in the back of the chimney which fell out of fashion as a result of too many women catching their dresses on fire while cooking. The large floor joists which can be seen in the basement were placed only 5 inches apart and those joists are given the credit for the home still standing in it's 4th century years. In the attic can be seen the distinctive scars of lumber which has been “pit-sawn”. It was a new England tradition to gift newlyweds two sugar maples to plant in their backyard so they would have maple sugar for life. The maple trees behind the house were likely planted in the 2nd half of the 19th Century. The pantry next to the breakfast nook has been moved from the left of the main fireplace, but it is the original 1677 pantry. As you can imagine a home of this age has some features unique to what guests might be used to. Some doorways are low, thresholds are high, steps are steep, and cracks in the 1677 wide plank flooring would make high heels a nightmare. A 1929 Elmsford gas stove is the centerpiece of the kitchen. The cook top has an open pilot, so do not place anything flammable of top of the stove. The controls for the oven are on the right hand side of the stove.
